Windows 10: How to get rid of the black outline that appears when selecting a file or a folder

A black outline appears when I select a file or folder in file explorer. It started all of a sudden and it's irritating me now. Even after I click on the empty space, the black border still remains active around the file/folder. Checked out the accessibility settings but couldn't find any solution.Tried uploading the screenshot to this problem but upload keeps failing. Somebody please help me with a solution to this.

Hi Nathan,

The issue might occur due to corrupted display drivers or incompatible drivers.

I suggest you to update display drivers from device manager and check if it helps.

To update the drivers, follow the steps below.

• 
  Type “Device Manager” in search box and press Enter.
  
• 
  Right click on the drivers for Display and Touchscreen and select Update.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen prompts to update.

How to get rid of the blue outline?



I find it a bit annoying as the blue and the black don't match together.
Using the dark accent colour does get rid of the blue outline but I don't want to have to use this option.

The problem does seem to only appear on Firefox when I'm using a custom dark theme.

 

Sub folders in File Explorer

For an unknown reason to me some sub folder tiles in File Manager have changed in appearance i.e. are outlined on a black background within the tile others just showing folder as normal. Anyone know why, and how to get rid of the black?

any assistance would be appreciated
