    How to get rid of 'Top apps' display, Win10 Ver 1903


    When Cortana is dismissed, she's replaced with a useful Search function that heretofore was simple and unobtrusive. With the upgrade(?) to Version 1903, the Search box is now much wider and has a lineup of 'Top apps' icons across the top. I assume the system keeps track of app usage and displays the ones used most in that lineup, although some of those shown on my machine haven't been used in months. Is there a way to get rid of that icon display and, hopefully, reduce the size of the Search box back to something less in-your-face'?

    How to get rid of "Top apps" in Search window?


    I just installed my first Win 10 1903 on one of my PCs a couple days ago. And I just now tried the new Search. I have a bunch tiles labeled "Top apps" across the top of the screen. These certainly aren't my top applications, but even if they were, I wouldn't want this in a Search window. How do I get rid of the tiles. (I'll probably delete the applications altogether soon, but I don't want Windows to decide it needs to list something else there.)

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
