    Hey,

I just recently got a SSD, installed windows on it, and all that junk. I have some important stuff that needs to stay on my other drive. I wanted to delete the windows folder on my old drive to free up some space, but in doing so it won't let me saying I need to get permission from "TrustedInstaller".

Now I have googled how to do it, and you can remove that permission... For individual files. I can remove the permission on the folder, but everything inside the folder don't get those removed, giving me a error as access denied. Not even CMD can remove these files. I would have to manual change permissions on 92,221 files.

Is there something I can do to combat this without formatting the drive?

    Thanks!

    Permission issue

Presumably because TrustedInstaller is the owner (hence you need its permission), suggesting that img3.jpg was installed by Windows at some time.

Presumably that also means it can be uninstalled. How did you get it in the first place? Where is it located?

If you really want to delete it yourself, then taking ownership would seem a logical first step.

  3. Restore WindowsApps permissionss to TrustedInstaller

    Hi Sakso,

This Windows apps permission could have happened due to the corrupted or outdated Windows component,
we suggest that you follow the instructions below to restore or reset the default permission for your folder or file:

    • Open the File Explorer.
    • Browse to the system file you previously changed ownership.
    • Right-click the file, and select Properties.
    • Click on the Security tab.
    • Click the Advanced button.
    • On the "Advanced Security Settings" page, click the Change link on Owner.
    • On the "Select User or Group" page, type the following to add the TrustedInstaller account and click
      Check Names: NTService\TrustedInstaller.
    • Click OK and click Apply.
    • Click OK again to complete the task.

Update us with the result so we can further assist you.

Windows 10 Home - Getting "TrustedInstaller" permission to edit and remove items.

    Hi John,

Based on the initial post that you made, what you did was to give full permission to trustedinstaller. You need to change it to the admin of the computer (LAPTOP-E1UE8UMG\Administrators) instead as outlined on the last link you provided. If you are still
having issues after changing the permission to the admin, I suggest that you post your issue in the
TechNet Forums instead. The members there include
IT professionals that can provide a more advanced recommendation on the next step to resolve your issue.

    Regards.
