Windows 10: How to have a copy of desktop icons layout to replace when disturbed

I can see again! locked thread about it...I've been explained many time why "locked" is used but I will never understand it. Because it is such a pain to look for something and find it in its original creation with no ways to question it or get more info about it beside creating a new question... It would be so helpful if threads were sorted out, updated and screened for being obsolete but kept alive for those who will need help from them. Desktop icon layout

I know there are threads on how to maintain icon layout position, but I find none of them to be adequate. Why can't Microsoft just add a simple feature to save and restore desktop icon positions? Or simply just not mess them all up in the first place? And
no, unchecking the 'auto arrange' or 'Allow themes to change desktop icons' doesn't work. Just check the 'This PC' in the 'Desktop Icon Settings', apply, then remove it and your icon layout will be messed up. The User interface is one of the most important
element of any software. The reason people put icons on the desktop is for ease and quick access to their favorite applications. Microsoft just don't seem to get that. It's something that's been bugging me ever since I started using Windows.

I would have liked to pick 'Incompetence' for 'Category', but it wasn't listed...

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

View Layout Icons

In the lower right corner of the File Explorer
there are two icons that have something to do
with View Layout: 'Detail' and 'Large Icons'.


I would like to:
1. Add the 'List' view because this is the type I
often use, or:
2. Replace the 'Large Icon' with 'List'.


How do I do it?
