  2. Windows Startup password

Is it possible to remove a startup password without being able to log into the system? A friend's laptop just prompt her today for a password that she never enabled. Now, she does have a standard user account password, but that doesn't work for the startup password. She had the computer for about a year now and it has never asked for a startup password until today.

I tried to use Hiren Boot CD to run a diagnostic on the laptop, but it has a bsod. Windows 10 normal boot crashes as well

  3. App Specific password

    Running Windows 11 desktop 22H2

    Instructions state:

"To create a new app password for an app or device, take the following steps. You can repeat these steps to create an app password for as many apps or devices as you need.

    1. Go to the Security Basics page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
    2. Select More security options.
    3. Under App passwords, select Create a new app password. A new app password is generated and appears on your screen.
    4. Enter this app password where you would enter your normal Microsoft account password in the application."
I can log in. I click "Security" then "Advanced Security Options" (No "More Security Options"). NO "App passwords" to be found !!!! What's happened ??

    Appreciate help.
