Windows 10: How to I kill the process holding a USB device

Hello,I get this error when I try to unplug and external HD. Unplugging when I have this message seems to make it inoperable till I reboot my computer. Or I get a warning it needs to be repaired.I try to go through process explorer but there is nothing explicit that says Mass Storage Device, USB, SCSI - what should I be looking for?I suspect Anti Virus - but that I cannot kill.All windows, folders that were using the HD were closed. Suggestions how to prevent this?

Appreciate the suggestion. I use a .bat file here to do essentially what you describe, but my aim is to automate the process - no user intervention. A specified process opens; it spots and kills it. Closest that I have seen is an app that claims to do this on a schedule.

 

USB keyboard disconnects when holding any button down

Method 1: I suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps:

• The USB connection may be loose. Try unplugging the keyboard, and then plugging it back in.
• Plug the keyboard into a different USB port.
• If your keyboard is plugged into a USB hub or USB switch box, try removing it and plugging the keyboard into the computer.
• Unplug other USB devices that are not in use.
• Try the keyboard on another computer to verify it is working correctly

Method 2: Also I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the usb keyboard drivers as below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows+X and go to device manager.
• Then expand keyboards and right click on the driver.
• Then click on uninstall and restart the computer.
• It will be reinstalled automatically and check if it helps.
