  1. How to I prevent the Windows 10 1809 update from installing on Windows 10 Home

    To All,

I absolutely do not want to install the Windows 10 1809 update until Microsoft has properly tested it for bugs. With each major update of Windows 10, new problems are introduced and the 1809 update looks to be the absolute worst screw-up by Microsoft on Windows 10 so far. Between the lost home folder contents and now the lost zip file contents, I don't want to go anywhere near 1809 until Microsoft has it properly fixed.

I am running Windows 10 Home and there does not look like an obvious way to turn off the Windows update. Is there an back-door way (Registry key or other) to prevent 1809 from installing on all of my computers?

I figure that I have until November 7 to figure this out and on Election Day when I will be glued to my computer and TV, I do not want Windows update 1809 screwing up all of my computers and have to deal with this mess until Microsoft has it properly fixed.

    Thanks

    :)

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

  3. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Is it time for Windows 10 already?

Again, for those that want the update reservation and you meet the requirements ---> Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free

And, some info from the FAQ page:

Also, some interesting info from the Specifications page:
