Windows 10: How to increase the System Reserved Partition size

I tried using MR myself because never knew MR could edit partitions, only had used it for image backups before. I couldn't figure it out as easily as you did. I admit I was used to using MiniTool and not MR.... and did this BEFORE I posted my opinion to the user.
Your 2nd question you wanted me to try and resize my 450mg recovery partition on my HD using minitool in 10 sec's!!! Which I was in no way going to try, and I most likely could have, but would have taken me a lot longer than 10 sec's. Because of where it is on my partition, makes it difficult for me. Plus, it was pointless of me to try. I was just meaning by saying 10 sec's that MiniTool was faster to make changes than using MR at that time.

Both of them are in the Network and Sharing forum. 1st one is one that I started myself, which I closed, by saying it was solved, because I gave up trying to get answers. Title is "questions on my home network." but to be fair on that one, I only mentioned your name and did not send you any personal msg. Didn't really think of it. BUT on the same note, other people don't ask for your help, but you read their problems and then respond, without them asking for your help by name or personal msg.

2nd question is in same forum, under the question by the OP of "workgroup in windows 10 not working" You were helping the OP of that thread, and that is where I finally got some answers that helped me with the problems I was having with my home network.

Great. That means everything is clean and Macrium did the job.
BTW, the error message that you had earlier was from Macrium software. It was a bug so they updated it to version: 6.1.879
Run Macrium->Other Tasks->Check For Updates... then it should download the patch and update for you.

 

Thanks very much. With your sincere help I have moved my Windows 10 from my old hard disk (instead of increasing the system reserved partition on that disk) to new bigger hard disk with Macrium and now my system reserved partition is of 2 GB size) and plenty of space for my other requirements.

 

Though I have been able to do with the Macrium what I wanted but I also tried using Mini Tool 9.1 free version for merging my partitions but free version is not having this option. So I downloaded Easeus Partition Manager free which merged my partitions

 

Ok sam glad you found a way that you liked!! That's really all that matters. I have used MiniTool 9.1 to merge my partitions thou, and it worked fine. Free version. I always use MiniTool from my bootable dvd thou. I never used it from my desktop, even thou lots of others do. Again, glad you fixed your partitions. *Smile

I use it all the time. I do not have a system reserve partition.

 

Well when I let Windows 10 Pro do a clean install, it remade all my partitions on my ssd and I let it do whatever it wanted. So Windows 10 made 4 partitions, one was recovery partition 450mg, one fat32-100mb, one called "other" 16mb, and then my system primary partition. 232gb. That's all Windows 10 Pro made or wanted.

 

Comparison of different version of Mini Tool 9.1 on their official Page also mentioned that free version does not allow merging of partitions. I do not know how you are merging with free version. May be merging is allowed through bootable dvd. I tried through Desktop.

 

Its not disabled in my free version, I'll show you a screen shot on mine, where if you looked, it IS a choice.




Look under Operations, then its like the # 5 choice on mine.....

 

Yeah, but actually click on merge icon and attempt to do a merge and it will tell you that option is not available in the free version.

 

Yup, but I did use this in version 9.0 and it did work......just never thought to try it in the new update, as I didn't need too. Well that pisses me off.....*Mad Sorry for my mis-information

No No sorry, it happens with everyone. It is always said that teachers also learn from their students questions. ( just to remind Easeus Partition Manager free do more things than Mini Tool ). Yup true words, also because of this thread, folks have been telling us that Macrium Reflect free version can do this too, I use MR for my image backups all the time, but have not actually used it for changing partitions. seems to be a bit harder than what I want. Maybe I just got to learn more about MR. But right now, I have no need to change any of my partitions. Those days are done for me.....hopefully.... I WILL take a peek at your Easeus Partition Manager too!!

I was going to close this thread when one new problem came. I tried to increase the system reserved partition in my other Windows 10 PC with the same method from my Desktop Macrium but Macrium said this restore operation can not be done while the windows is running as window is using system reserve partition and advised to use Window PE rescue CD or boot menu. This problem did not come when I did the same method on my other computer.
