How to install a new driver downloaded from Microsoft Update catalog ?

As I encounter problems with my Lan driver Realtek and Windows 10 Pro 64, somone on the forum said me to download the last version from Microsoft update catalog which seems the good one.

So I downloaded the driver but it is a .cab file. When I unpacked the files I obtain four files : a .cat file, a .inf file, a .sys file and a .DLL file. There is no setup.exe file....

I tried to install the driver using the command "HDWWIZ". It sees the .inf file but noting installs......

    Where is the problem ?

    :)

  3. Due to slow internet speed . windows update not able to download.any offline installer?

    Hello Abhishek,

You can use microsoft update catalog to download the updates offline. It would first save the installation file to your computer and then you can use them to install.

As the website is offline now I am copying the contents here:

Microsoft Update Catalog is a service from Microsoft that provides a listing of software updates that can be distributed over a corporate network. Using the Microsoft Update Catalog can
prove to be a one-stop location for finding Microsoft software updates, drivers, and hotfixes.

    Microsoft Update Catalog

Fromtime to time, Microsoft releases Important, Recommended, Optional updates as well as Hotfixes, which include device drivers, updated system files, service packs and new Windows features. Developed
specially for corporate and enterprise environments, Microsoft Update Catalog provides access to these updates as well as the hotfixes.

    Download & save Windows Updates
You can if you wish, download and save Windows Updates or updates for other Microsoft software from this website.

    1. Visit the Microsoft Update Catalog website here.

    2. Search for updates from the Windows Update Catalog In the Search box, type your search terms. You can carry out a full text search, using a keyword, KB article, MSRC bulletin, driver manufacturer, driver
model, driver version, product, and a classification. Select the appropriate version of Windows. Search or click on Advanced Search if you want to refine your search. A list will be displayed. Select the updates that you want to download. Click Add for each
selection to add it to the download basket.

    3. Download the updates. You may be asked to install an Active-X download control to be able to download files from this site.

    4. Double-click on the downloaded updates to install them.

Administrators can download updates from the Microsoft Download Center or the Windows Update Catalog to deploy to multiple computers.

For home-users, Microsoft recommends using Windows Update for keeping their Windows up-to-date or the Microsoft
    Download Center
for downloading individual updates. But this site can be used by all to download Windows Updates to your computer – as it makes things a lot more easier.

How to install a new driver downloaded from Microsoft Update catalog ?

Just open Device Manager, under Network adapters find "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller", right click it and select "Update driver", "Browse my computer...", and then click either "Browse" and select the folder with your driver or choose "Let me pick..." below, then "Have disk" and point to your .inf file.

If you have PCIe GBE Family Controller (or any other of the same family), use the third driver down from here:
    Realtek

Version 8.038. Extract the zip and use the same method post #2 to load it. That driver also allows you to use Wake On Lan when the computer shuts down, even with Fast Startup enabled. Everything works perfect with it.

Thank you. Yes I have an integrated Realtek PCIe Family Controller and Windows 10Pro.

Driver V8.038 just installed........and the same issue with the others (even the last V.10.2.730.2015). All's Normal just after the installation and after a few minutes (maximum) the connection speed falls down.
If I change a parameter in the driver properties it works normally.......for one or 2 minutes......and so on !!!
Very curious.....!!! I'm searching since 3 days without result....!!
I also have a laptop with this Realtek Controller and all's works (Windows 10 family instead of Windows 10 Pro on the desktop computer)

How to install a new driver downloaded from Microsoft Update catalog ?

Seems like it is something other than the driver. I have that controller working perfectly on my desktop and at least one laptops (haven't looked to see if the other laptops have it).
