    How to keep corrupt recycling bin fixed


    Hello- I can not find the answer here. I follow all the directions, chkdsk, sfc/SCANNOW, DISM, and rd /s /q \$Recycle.bin and it does not seem to fix the problem permanently.....it always comes back. I have many large TB drives, around 6 drives and it appears the corrupt recycle bin error floats to other drives as well and so I go through the motion in the forum and it does not stay fixed. I have Wiindows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.190145. I do not want to go to Win 11 just yet. Does anyone have the answer besides all the ones that do not seem to work. Thank you.

    Hi George,

    To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
    • Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
    • Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

    How to keep corrupt recycling bin fixed

    Corrupted recycle bin


    When I turn on the computer each day, I get a message "The Recycle Bin on G:\ is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this Drive\?" Drive G is where I have my Passport external drive for backup. Any suggestions on how to address and resolve this? Thanks.
