Windows 10: How to keep Defender updates flowing if Windows Automatic Updates are turned off in group...

I'm configuring a computer to run in a remote observatory and need to prevent unexpected updates so I plan to disable Windows Automatic Updates in the Group Policy setting the policy Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Manage End User Experience to "disabled". Operators manually download and apply Windows update on a planned schedule.However, Defender is running and I wish to maintain the daily quick scans although I will use Group Policy to have it run during the day vs. the default 02h00.I want to ensure that the Defend

SEtting up automatic updates for windows defender on windows 8

I have found this on the internet en have set up a task for automatic definitions update for Windows Defender but a window pops up when this starts to run.
Is there a way to set this without any window popping up so that it just runs in the background?

Now I'm using
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate -MMPC

windows automatic updates

i have some questions about the windows automatic updates in windows xp pro w sp/2. ive got about forty updates they recommend , mostly for security but i only installed two today. after installing them i found them in my add/remove programs in the control panel, if i add all these updates that is a lot of space on my hd almost 1 gig. i thought that updates just updated files and not created new programs. should i innore all these update suggestions from microsoft?
