Windows 10: How to let Photos App fully opens multiple pictures instead only stays on taskbars?

In windows 10, when I open the first two image one by one, the Photos App will fully open the second image on top of the first one in the windows. However, when I open the third image, instead of doing what it did like the second image, the third photo will not be fully opened, and the Photos app in task bar will only do the orange flash. I will have to click it and manually select the photo again to view.This is becoming a huge problem as I have to keep a lot of photos open for my work.Does anyone have a solution for this? Are there any settings I can try? Please help.

Photos App opens but stays on taskbar without opening fully

Photos app was working ok for the first week after updating to 10 from 8.1 pro.

Then it would open, appear on taskbar (with thumbnail of photo) but not fully open for photo viewing.

I did a search and couldn't find this issue mentioned by anyone else - but did see lots of other issues like Album creation; which to be honest I hadn't see any repercussions from.

I uninstalled Photos app and reinstalled from Store - still same problem.

it is now uninstalled and I am using Windows Photo Viewer.

I don't mind the new Photos app (despite all the other complaints) because it displays gif files.

It is only the Photos app that displays this behavious. All other apps open ok.

Any ideas what the issue is here?

 

Photos App opens but stays on taskbar without opening fully

after looking through all the other posts where people have issue with this app I decided to run services.msc

(I had already tried the trouble shooter before posting the issue)

then I opened photos app.

couldn't see any difference

then I open the app a second time with a different picture type

and got the recent files list above it

clicking on one of those

photos app started working.

not sure if it was services.msc or having the app opened more than once that triggered the log jam clearance.

 

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.
