  1. How to limit default frame rate of external monitor?

I have a notebook that I want to connect to an external monitor on second screen only option more info below. The problem is when I connect an 1.4 HDMI cable between them, the notebook tries to output a 4k 60Hz signal through its 1.4 HDMI port and as a result, both screens keep blinking. But even with the blinking I successfully changed the monitor's frame rate on duplicate mode, but on extended mode I switched HDR option to on and the blinking worsened a lot making changing back seemingly impossible. And the mode I want is second screen only, which there is no way for me to change the frame

    :)

    frame rate

Hi, I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

If I understand correctly, you change the monitor refresh rate to match the frame rate of the video you are watching.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't need to change your monitor refresh rate to match the video you're watching. The video is displayed at the video's own frame rate.

Therefore, if your monitor is set by default to 60hz, videos that are in 24hz will be played in 24hz regardless of the current refresh rate configured for the monitor.

    Even TVs work this way.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

    frame rate

I already understood that. But you don't need to change the computer's output to match the video frame rate. Leave the output at 60p. When some 24p, 23p, or 50p video is played, the player will display it at that frame rate.

I watch my movies and series from these sites with their respective frame rate, and I don't change the output on my PC. It works perfectly.

When you play a video that doesn't match the output frame rate, do you have a problem with the video signal? For example, there is no signal, or the signal is oscillating.

How to limit default frame rate of external monitor?

    External monitor causes frame drops

My external monitor causes frame drops every 10 seconds. It is really annoying for me cause I like to play rhythm games. I have tried a lot of things. Updating drivers, changing settings with my external monitor but nothing worked. Can someone fix it?

(It happens in only 1 program, geometry dash)
