How to lock computer after display turns off ?

I used to have screen-saver set as 'none' and 'on resume, display logon screen', and set the time there the same as the 'display off' option in 'power options'. And that works fine on a PC, no issues there.

Now I started using a laptop, and it has different 'display off' times for 'when plugged' and 'when unplugged', and different display off times for different 'power plans', so I can't use that trick any more.

How can I do 'lock computer when display off' ?

    :)

  2. Disable the Lock screen in Windows 10.

    Interesting.

So if you press it is LOCKING the computer ...

How long after you turn the display off is it locked? (Immediate - you turn off the screen, turn it right back on - it's locked? After a few minutes - you turn off the screen, immediately turn it back on - it's not locked; turn it back off, wait 5 minutes,
turn it back on - it's locked?)

turn off display also locked screen and need login passwrod

I'd like the screen lock when it going to sleep.

but it does not lock when I only turn off the display.

I have windows 10, that when the display is going to off (for example I set the display turn off after 1 minute. and sleep after 20minutes. or I set one key to turn off Laptop display by hand.) the screen also locked.

I do not have this problem on win7.

Is there any solution for my problem?

  5. Ctrl+L locks the computer. Here is another way: Lock Computer - Add to Desktop Context Menu in Windows 8 (context menu)

enable/disable lock screen: Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

Require password sign-on: Password Protection on Wakeup - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

change lock screen timeout period: Lock Screen Timeout Period - Change in Windows 8

If I missed your question, it is because I didn't quite understand it (my fault!). Please rephrase and I can keep looking for something to help you.

PS the tutorials say Windows 8, but should work fine in Win 10.

    I think that's Winkey+L.

How to lock computer after display turns off ?

I know what Win+L does. I'm using that sometimes, but I don't have a habit of doing it when I leave my computer, so I need that to happen automatically.

Currently, I have it set so it 'locks the computer' after 5 minutes, but on 'power saver', I have 'turn off display' on 2 minutes. So this is what happens. After 2 minutes pass, it turns off the display, after 5 minutes pass it locks the computer. I do have. If I work on the computer after 3 minutes pass, I do see the 'lock page', but after it goes up, I see directly the desktop and am not prompted to enter the password.

I want something to 'lock the computer' when 'display goes off'. I have 'turn off display' on different intervals.
2 minutes - power saver battery
    5 minutes - balanced battery
5 minutes - high performance battery
10 minutes - power saver plugged
    15 minutes - balanced plugged
15 minutes - high performance plugged

I want 'lock screen times to be the same:
2 minutes - power saver battery
    5 minutes - balanced battery
5 minutes - high performance battery
10 minutes - power saver plugged
    15 minutes - balanced plugged
15 minutes - high performance plugged

There is no 'password policy' in windows 10.
And editing the registry is not something I want to do. There'll be a problem is I ever want to disable that.

  13. How to lock computer after display turns off ?

Did you search for the terms password, or sign-in? It might take you to the location... Win 10 is a little different than 8.

Other option is to change the display time to match the lock time.

This, that's probably the easiest method. Did you do a fresh/clean install of W10, and not an upgrade? Maybe a bug or something affecting the settings.

My laptop when the screen goes dim 2,5,10 minutes (doesn't matter) it locks automatically. When I shake or click the mouse I see the lock and am prompted to enter the P/W to return ......

Yeah. I clean installed Windows 10 two times yesterday, because of some stupid software from lenovo that I can't uninstall (and guess what, Windows 10 installs it automatically). And I didn't find settings for that. For me it behaves the way I described.
