Windows 10: How to lock my Desktop screen

I see that there is a lock screen option, but unlocking again requires a new login using a NetID.Since locking the screen seems to amount to locking the entire machine against anyone that doesn’t know the NetID including me! and I don’t want to find myself unable to get back in again after locking the screen, which apparently doesn’t need the use of a NetID, I did some googling to find out what a NetID is, anyway.Turns out that a NetID is “the primary account credential used to access web-based university systems such as email, Blackboard, and others.”What adds to my concern is that I don’t

I suggest you to follow the steps below to set the lock screen option as Windows Spotlight and check if it helps.

1. Right click on Desktop screen.

2. Then click on Personalize.

3. Click on Lock Screen.

4. Try to select Windows Spotlight from the list.

Windows Spotlight on the lock screen

There are multiple causes on why you're encountering this issue. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you disable and re-enable Spotlight. Simply follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the desktop and open Personalize.
• Open Lock Screen tab.
• Under Background, switch from Windows Spotlight to a Picture or the Slideshow.
• Click OK and close the Window.
• Now Log off and log in.
• Navigate to Lock screen and enable Windows Spotlight again.
