Hi everyone,I’m currently working on creating a parallel story using Copilot AI tools, but I’m facing an issue with maintaining character consistency, especially with the appearance of characters. The Copilot AI doesn’t seem to remember the faces of characters from previous creations, which is causing inconsistencies in my story.Has anyone else faced this issue?What strategies or tools do you use to ensure that your characters remain consistent throughout your story? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance!

Google adding generative AI to Search

We’re starting to open up access to new generative AI capabilities in Search. Here are three ways to try it out.

Today, we’re starting to open up access to Search Labs, a new program to access early experiments from Google. If you’ve already signed up for the waitlist at labs.google.com/search, you’ll be notified by email when you can start testing Labs experiments, like SGE (Search Generative Experience), Code Tips and Add to Sheets in the U.S. And if you want to opt-in to these experiments, simply tap the Labs icon in the latest version of the Google app (Android and iOS) or on Chrome desktop to sign up. You can also visit the Labs site to check your waitlist status. Once you’re in, the new generative AI powered Search experience will help you take some of the work out of searching, so you can understand a topic faster, uncover new viewpoints and insights and get things done more easily. So instead of asking a series of questions and piecing together that information yourself, Search now can do some of that heavy lifting for you. Here are three ways you can make your next search simpler with new generative AI capabilities: 1. Easily get up to speed on a new or complicated topic. Maybe you’re starting to map out a decision that you’d typically need to break down into smaller parts, like “Learning ukulele vs guitar.” Search will provide an AI-powered snapshot so you can get help understanding what factors to consider. Another example: If you’re curious to learn more about starting your own company, try looking up “Benefits of incorporating your business before freelancing.” You can quickly get the lay of the land, and then dive deeper with links to articles. 2. Uncover quick tips for your specific questions. Sometimes you have a very specific question in mind, in which you’d benefit from seeing a variety of content from across the web. If you find your favorite old sweater in the back of your closet but quickly realize it needs some freshening up, search for “How to get an old coffee stain out of a wool sweater?” Or if you’re getting ready for an international trip, but need to make sure your documents are up to date, search for “How can I renew my passport quickly?” Now you can easily find pointers for the key info you need to know, or see a range of options available and take the next step with help from the web. 3. Discover a range of products and things to consider while shopping. Say you’re looking for removable wallpaper to spruce up your rental. Simply search for “Peel and stick wallpaper for kitchen” to learn about important factors, like if it’s easy it is to remove, and get a list of stylish options, including price, customer ratings and links to purchase. Or try searching for “Bluetooth speaker for a pool party” to see important considerations for that environment, like water resistance and battery life, and a host of options to choose from.

And if you want to explore further, right under the snapshot, you’ll see the option to “ask a follow-up question” or select a suggested next step, which will take you into conversational mode. This experiment is our first step in adding generative AI to Search, and we'll be making many updates and improvements over time. As we continue to reimagine how we can make it even more natural and intuitive to find what you’re looking for, we’re excited for you to test out these new capabilities and share feedback along the way.

Introducing NVIDIA ACE For Games NPCs with Generative AI

Imagine a game in which you could have intelligent, unscripted and dynamic conversations with non-playable characters (NPCs) with persistent personalities that evolve over time and accurate facial animations and expressions, all in your native tongue. Generative AI technologies are making this a reality, and at COMPUTEX 2023 we announced the future of NPCs with the NVIDIA Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE) for Games. NVIDIA ACE for Games is a custom AI model foundry service that aims to transform games by bringing intelligence to non-playable characters (NPCs) through AI-powered natural language interactions. “Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize the interactivity players can have with game characters and dramatically increase immersion in games,” said John Spitzer, vice president of developer and performance technology at NVIDIA. “Building on our expertise in AI and decades of experience working with game developers, NVIDIA is spearheading the use of generative AI in games.” NVIDIA ACE For Games’ AI Foundation Models Developers of middleware, tools and games can use NVIDIA ACE for Games to build and deploy customized speech, conversation, and animation AI models in their software and games across the cloud and PC. Optimized AI foundation models include:

NVIDIA NeMo, which provides foundation language models and model customization tools so developers can further tune the models for game characters. This customizable large language model (LLM) enables specific character backstories and personalities that fit a developer’s game world. Developers can better align player interactions within the context of a scene through programmable rules for NPCs with NeMo Guardrails.

NVIDIA Riva, which provides automatic speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities to enable live speech conversation with NVIDIA NeMo.

NVIDIA Omniverse Audio2Face, which instantly creates expressive facial animation for game characters from just an audio source. Audio2Face features Omniverse connectors for Unreal Engine 5, so developers can add facial animation directly to MetaHuman characters.

How NVIDIA ACE For Games Works To showcase the power of NVIDIA ACE for Games, and preview how developers will build NPCs in the near future, we partnered with Convai, an NVIDIA Inception startup building a platform for creating and deploying AI characters in games and virtual worlds, to help optimize and integrate ACE modules into their platform. Take a first look in the NVIDIA Kairos demo: “With NVIDIA ACE for Games, Convai’s tools can achieve the latency and quality needed to make AI non-playable characters available to nearly every developer in a cost efficient way,” said Purnendu Mukherjee, founder and CEO at Convai. The Kairos demo leveraged NVIDIA Riva for speech-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities, NVIDIA NeMo to power the conversational AI, and Audio2Face for AI-powered facial animation from voice inputs. These modules were integrated seamlessly into the Convai services platform and fed into Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman to bring Jin to life. Jin and his Ramen Shop scene were created by the NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios art team and rendered entirely in Unreal Engine 5, using NVIDIA RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI) for ray traced lighting and shadows, and DLSS for the highest possible frame rates and image quality.

This real-time demonstration reveals what is possible using GeForce RTX graphics cards, NVIDIA RTX technologies, and NVIDIA ACE for Games. And exemplifies the possibilities for upcoming games that leverage this game-changing technology. NVIDIA ACE: Bringing Life To NPCs Game developers and startups are already using NVIDIA generative AI technologies. For instance, GSC Game World is using Audio2Face in the much-anticipated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl. And indie developer Fallen Leaf is using Audio2Face for character facial animation in Fort Solis, their third-person sci-fi thriller set on Mars. Additionally, Charisma.ai, a company enabling virtual characters through AI, is leveraging Audio2Face to power the animation in their conversation engine.
