Windows 10: How to make taskbar autohide but stay present when looking at desktop?

Title. I want to know if there is any way to autohide the taskbar, but keep it on the screen when I'm looking at my desktop. If it's not possible through Windows directly, third-party software works too.

In rare cases, you may be having an issue with Autohide Taskbar in desktop mode when you when you just recently did an upgrade on your PC. Autohide Taskbar Option might have got unchecked during the process. We would suggest you try the following steps to enable
Autohide taskbar and check if it makes any difference.

a. Right-click on the Taskbar.

b. Click on Properties.

c. Put a check mark next to ‘Auto-hide’ the taskbar.

d. Click on Apply and OK.

chrome + taskbar autohide problem

So i set my taskbar autohide. whenever chrome is in fullscreen, when i hover around the corner, the taskbar wont appear. It works with other browsers....

I've migrated away from a mac environment and now have a windows 10 based HP envy. I am having repeated issues with the task bar not autohiding. I am aware that notifications can stop the taskbar hiding (which then gets in the way of applications I might
be using) but I am used to the MAC taskbar still autohiding with visual clues still present when the taskbar comes back up. So:

1. If notifications are all off and the taskbar still stays visible how do I get the taskbar to always autohide
2. If this is a known issue, what alternatives to windows 10 taskbar exist
