Windows 10: How to make windows recognize surround speakers connected to a TV with HDMI ARC?

Hi, I'm trying to troubleshoot the audio on my Windows 10 PC.I have a home theatre type setup with a TV connected to the computer's GPU through an HDMI cable, and an audio receiver with a 5.1 surround speaker configuration connected to the TV's eARC through another HDMI cable. The audio will play through the speakers connected to the receiver as it's supposed to, but only in stereo even with content that should be in 5.1. In the windows sound control panel, it only seems to recognize the TV's onboard speakers as the audio device and only allows stereo as a speaker configuration. I already con

Laptop not recognizing TV through HDMI connection

Hello everyone!

First I do apologize if this is not the correct section for this thread.

I've had issues connecting my laptop to TV for the past day. Connection is done through an HDMI cable. Connection was good up until it randomly turned off itself while playing a game. There have been no hardware or software changes whatsoever that would affect it.

TV is SAMSUNG, Model: UE32J4000AW. Laptop info is available in My PC Specs. (laptop is brand new, week or two old)

Here's what I've tried so far:

• 3 different HDMI cables
• switching between ports on TV
• tried all projection options on Laptop
• Disable / Enable both Intel and Nvidia drivers
• Rollback Intel GPU driver and installed it back to latest version
• Re-installed Nvidia driver
• Restarted PC and TV
• Scan for hardware changes through Device Manager
• Checked Intel and Nvidia control panels - there were no available options
• Apparently both HDMI ports on the TV work as I tried them with a tv box.

I think that's all I've tried so far, will add anything else if missed. Open to suggestions.

 

Windows Don't Have Surround Sound in Audio Configurations When Connected to TV

I can't get surround sound. I connect my laptop via HDMI to my Vizio 4K TV. However, in the speaker configuration I only see Stereo and not the other multi channels I'm used to when I connect my laptop to my Dell monitor. I know this is not a driver or
Windows problem because the same laptop and HDMI cable gives me surround sound on my Dell monitor. It seems like Windows detects the Vizio TV as stereo only even though I can connect a surround sound system to the TV. Any solutions????

 

Dolby via HDMI ARC

Hi,

this is my scenario:

PC with nvidia 3080
AVR Denon X1500H
TV 4k120hz

My AVR doesn't support 4k120hz, so I connected the PC to the TV.
TV and the AVR have both HDMI ARC, if I use internal TV Netflix app, i got audio 5.1 via ARC.

How can I use a dolby audio from the PC to the AVR?
Now i use an spidf, but i've only compressed audio 5.1.
ARC doesn't work (PC see only audio 2.0 on TV)
The only way that I found is to connect PC to the AVR via HDMI on the onboard HDMI, and PC-TV via Nvidia, but i've to set duplicate monitor...is there any way to force only audio via hdmi without an external HW Audio Extractor?
