How to manually edit consumed broadband data for this month?

Hi, I have a SIM card which I use in multiple devices. It happens that I consume a part of my FUP in the other devices and then put the SIM back into the notebook. Of course, it has no way of detecting how much data was consumed in the other devices, but my carrier can tell me that. Is there a way how I could "tell" Windows the amount of consumed data reported by my carrier so that the data metering app shows me useful insights again? I mean changing the number the API method ConnectionProfile.GetDataPlanStatus() returns.

I know that Windows 10 remembers the network usage per app, so I think the additional data would have to be assigned to some app. Or maybe it could be assigned to "system" usage? I haven't found any API that would allow me to add entries to the DataPlanStatus.

    :)

  3. Data trough 4G mobile broadband connection blocked when ethernet connected

    Hi Robert,

It appears that Windows is managing your connection. It only allows you to connect to your mobile broadband connection if you're not connected to either Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. To work around this behavior, I suggest disabling this feature to allow
you to manually connect to your cellular or mobile connection. Please follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Cellular.
    2. Uncheck the box for Let Windows manage this connection.
    3. Once done, try connecting manually to your mobile broadband while Ethernet is connected and see if it works.

For more information about mobile broadband connection, please check out,
    Cellular settings in Windows 10
    .

Please update this thread with the result so I'll be able to assist you further if needed.

    Regards.

  4. How to manually edit consumed broadband data for this month?

Metred connection, still consuming a lot of data

    Hi All,

My laptop is a new DELL laptop, preinstalled with Windows10. Every time I connect my laptop to my mobile internet connection through the mobile hotspot, the laptop is consuming a lot of internet data. I set the connection as metered, still it is consuming
a lot of data. This needs to be stopped at the earliest.

Below are the actions taken so far as per my own understanding:

    • Connection is already set as metered.
    • I have stopped the Windows Update service, before I start my data connection. Instead, I am manually checking and installing updates.
    Can someone please advise ASAP?
