    How To Network?

I couldn't log into a machine on the Lan from another machine on the same Lan.

I couldn't understand this because I was absolutely sure of the username and the password.

Checked on that machine with cmds whoami and query user and got the username I was using.

But the system kept telling me I had an invalid username or password.

So I created another admin user on that machine and didn't log him in but went back to the machine I'd started this from and tried again to log in.

This time I was apparently successful. Because no error messages at all.

But neither does it show any folders. No directory tree at all. Windows Explorer just say 'this folder is empty'.

And no indication of how I can log that user out and have another go with some other username.

No sign of the shared folders. Nothing.

    What am I doing wrong?

I can see that maybe that new user has no user files yet. But shouldn't shared directories or something be visible?

And is there no way to log in to a machine on the lan, as the lan administrator, and view everything on that machine - all user files, any user's files? Or folders at least?

    :)

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.
