Windows 10: how to password protect on bootup

Discus and support how to password protect on bootup in User Accounts and Family Safety to solve the problem; I hope someone can help.....I cannot seem to find the setting to get my laptop to ask for a password upon booting! *cry Ive looked in the accounts...     how to password protect on bootup


    I hope someone can help.....I cannot seem to find the setting to get my laptop to ask for a password upon booting! *cry Ive looked in the accounts setting and cant find anything. The nearest I have found is under the accounts/sign-in options/require sign in but I only have the option to choose 'never' or 'when pc wakes from sleep'.

    Have a couple questions

    1] I am the only one using this machine, so there is no need for the bootup password. How can I turn it off?

    2] I am using Malwarewbytes and it's Real-Time Protection is turned off because Windows Defender is also running. So how can I get both to run at the same time?

    Disable the Lock screen in Windows 10.

    I did this procedure and it worked for bootup but not for the lock screen. How do you disable password requirement when the computer times out and locks the screen?

    Hello Rud, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

    If all accounts have a password added to them, then you should be required to sign in at startup by default unless you used the tutorial below to set Windows to automatically sign in to an account at startup.
