Controlling the order of tracks after adding albums to phone

OK, I found the exact scenario to get this to happen (and it happens on nearly every album I have on my phone, both ripped and purchased from marketplace): If I go to the artist listing and select the artist, I get a screen showing the album; If I click
Play on the album, it starts with track 1. However, if I click the Play button from the artist listing, *then* it will start at the wrong track. And it extremely consistent with this (and it always starts with the same track every time)

This isn’t the solution, my albums and tracks are all correctly tagged (I spent many hours making sure that they are). The problem is thatWP8 is identifying every single track in a compilation album as a separate album.
What this means is that if I have a compilation album with 50 tracks by 50 different artists, each artists song appears as a separate album in the album list. Totally unworkable. All I want is for each album to show once in the album list and when I select
the album I then should see the tracks/artists. This worked perfectly on my android phone.



Any thoughts?

First let me tell you how the music player handles files. Whether you store your music in a very organized manner, or leave them scattered across many folders in a haphazard way, it will list out the tracks when the music library is refreshed. It reads the
ID3v2 tags stored in the mp3 files, and displays the track name. You can select by artist, or by album, or by playlists that you would've created. Therefore, unless you have the track name, Artist, and Album properly populated in the ID3v2 tags, you will not
quite get what you want.



Suppose you have 10 songs from Pink Floyd stored in a single folder, but only 5 have the Artist name populated as Pink Floyd while in the other 5, it's written 'Floyd', you won't find these 10 tracks under the same artist. Instead, they would appear under
Pink Floyd and Floyd. If all 10 were from the same album, you can view all of them under the same album.



I would suggest that you make sure that your files have the track names, Artis name and Album properly updated in the ID3v2 fields (not ID3v1) of the mp3 files.
