    How to play on old CD that reads empty on Windows 10


    Hello,I have an old CD from 1999. It's in good shape. When I tried to play it with my Windows 10 operating system, the CD would be registered as empty. Is there any way around this?Many thanks.

    Can't read old CD in Windows 10 Pro

    I have Windows 10 Pro installed on my desktop PC. I also have old CDs that were created on Windows XP and Windows 7.

    I cannot read them. Some have pictures and some have files.

    Windows 10 File Explorer asks how I want to use the CD (USB flash drive or CD/DVD player). Explorer must think the CDs are blank.

    I have searched the internet and also Microsoft and tried suggestions, but nothing has worked.

    CD won't play in Windows 10

    I have uninstalled the DVD/CD-ROM drive, Msft. says best driver is installed. When attempting to download driver from manufacturer, Matshita, says cannot download. Ran Dell diagnostics, no effect. DVD plays on an old computer with win 7 so know it is ok.
    The CD has 2 file folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, audio folder shows empty. Video has VIDEO_TS.BUP files and has files with IFO extension.

    Any Help would be appreciated.. Thank You.

    There are a couple factors for the CD to be unable to run in Windows 10, to isolate this matter, we have a couple
    of questions for you:




    • Were there any error messages when playing the CD?

    • Have you tried using different player?

    • Have you updated your drivers?

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
