How to prevent applications showing up partially off-screen at launch?

Up front: sorry! Likely this may have been asked over and over. However, I vainly searched for a solution. Hopefully someone can point me to the correct solution. Issue: Usually it is the bottom area (i.e. the status bar) of about 10-15mm, so I need to move the window panel a little bit upwards to make it all visible again. Sometimes, specifically with Office applications, this may not be easy: the title bar is so crowded there is hardly any free space to grab it without anything happening. I wonder whether there is a fix to always have applications show up within the visible area and above the taskbar at -initial launch-, i.e. when it has to move away to make other window panels visible, then this should be done by the user by moving around that window panel. Thanks! p.s. I know about shift-dragging a window panel, but one way or the other Windows doesn't seem to remember the 'last position', so I am seeking for some kind of default setting.

    :)

  2. How to prevent creation of list of applications launched

How can I prevent the Registry from creating a list of applications launched from external media? I have App launch tracker turned off, but registry nevertheless contains an entry for example.exe previously launched from, and only contained on, a thumb drive? TIA

  3. Can't launch any applications

    Hi,

This error message will show if the application or program that you are trying to open was been blocked by Windows Defender SmartScreen. Having said that, we suggest that you disable Windows Defender SmartScreen by following these steps:

    • Click on Start.
    • Type Windows Defender Security Center.
    • Click on App & browser control.
    • Click on Off in the following options:
      • Check apps and files.
      • SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge.
      • SmartScreen for Windows Store apps.
    • SmartScreen is now completely disabled. If you'd like to still receive a warning when a potentially malicious file or program is detected, you can choose Warn in each SmartScreen option.

Let us know if the steps above helped you to resolve the issue.

    WD Mybook Application won't launch

    Hi James,

Problem launching the WD MyBook application could be due to incompatibility or could be caused by a software conflict. Since you've already reached out to WD support, we would like to know the following to help us isolate and address the problem:

    • Were there any changes made or updates performed before the issue started?
    • What were the troubleshooting steps have you tried to far?
    • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WD MyBook application?

In the meantime, please try to disable the firewall and antivirus software on your computer. Once done, launch the WD application again and see if it works.

    Update us with the result.

    Regards.
