  1. How to prevent Mail/Calendar from auto-launching upon start of Windows?

In Windows 10, Mail and Calendar auto-launch when I start my computer. I want to change this so they do NOT startup when I turn on the computer. I cannot find how to accomplish this. The normal methods don't seem to cut it.

    - C:\Users\Hans\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup - this folder is empty

    - Task Manager > Startup - contains 18 apps, non of which are Mail and Calendar, nor any programs that might encompass either program.

    - Settings > Apps > Startup - same list as Task Manager startup, meaning no Mail or Calendar entries

    - I cannot find any setting in either App to choose to run on startup

    - SysConfig (msconfig) > startup depricated (points to Task Manager)

    - Cannot uninstall Mail and Calendar app

If anyone has a good suggestion as to how to get rid of these apps launching every time I start, would great appreciate it!

    :)

Mail and Calendar app won't launch

ok this works. There must have been an update as the install file has changed from under 179 mb to 180 mb:

1.Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.

2.Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.

3.Enter the below command to reinstall the Mail and calendar app.

    get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app form the Windows store.

Calendar and Mail app not launching

Use this tutorial to UNinstall Calendar and Mail.
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4...a.html#option2

    Option Two
Look for (To remove Calendar and Mail app from current account only) and use that command line on your Windows PowerShell.

After that, go to Windows Store and reinstall Mail and Calendar.

How to prevent Mail/Calendar from auto-launching upon start of Windows?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. *Smile

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
