Windows 10: How to prevent secondary drive from starting once in sleep mode.

Hi All.

Appreciative that I can post my question. Win Version No: 18362.388

I have a primary drive (Win 10) and a secondary drive (Win 7). My primary drive is my default drive and system that I run. Secondary drive is only there for when I need Win 7.

Every nine and again when using my primary drive I hear my secondary drive start up from sleep mode that it has entered into. I am not accessing any files from my secondary drive when running my primary drive.

How can I prevent my secondary drive from randomly starting like this once it has entered sleep mode after system startup to primary drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• How are trying to start the computer from the sleep mode?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?
• Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
• Are you able to shut down or restart the machine?
• What happens when you try to come out of Sleep mode?

I would suggest you to force shutdown the computer and start the computer and check what happens.

If you are able to login to normal mode then follow the below steps to restore the power setting/plan to default.

• Press Windows + X keys, and select the option
  Control Panel.
• Click on the Power Options icon.
• Click on Change plan settings.
• Select the option “Restore default settings for this plan”.

Win 10 - constantly shutting down into sleep mode every 64 minutes even when in active use!

• Did you check by setting sleep mode option to never?

If not, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Power & sleep.
• In the right pane, select Never from the drop down list for
  Screen and Sleep.
• Close the dialog box and check for status.
