Windows 10: How to Prevent Sudden Windows Changes on Device? Lock Screen Example

Hi, I am asking if there is a way that I can prevent any sudden unnecessary changes which occur without warning or consent on my Windows device?Today, my Windows 10 Lock Screen suddenly featured the 'weather and more' setting, although I do not remember consenting to this being added. I find sudden changes unnecessarily stressful and disruptive, so I would like to know why it occurred and how I can prevent it if possible. If not possible, is there somewhere that I can provide feedback to Microsoft about such unnecessary changes which can be unnecessarily disruptive? If there was an option to

Lock Screen keeps changing

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Spotlight picks the photos from Bing and displays them in the lock screen. I understand that you have set a picture and it is getting changed automatically.

I suggest you to follow the steps to select the Picture that you want to be displayed on the lock screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set a Picture to lock screen:

1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open settings.
   
2. Click on Personalization.
   
3. Click on Lock screen.
   
4. Click on the drop down under Background and select
   Picture.
   
5. Click on Browse and select the picture that you want to set.

unable to change the lock screen Wallpaper.

I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

  What is the exact issue that you are facing?
  
• 
  Are you facing issues while trying to change the lock screen Wallpaper?
  
• 
  Are you not able to choose the directory where the wallpapers has been saved?
  

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to restart the computer and check if you are able to successfully change the lock screen wallpaper.

  From Desktop, right click and select
  Personalize.
  
• 
  In Personalization window, click on
  Lock Screen in the left pane.
  
• 
  And choose wallpaper you would like to apply for the lock screen by choosing the browse option.
  
• 
  Close the Personalization window.

Lock screen picture won't change

Something seems to be preventing you from customizing the lock screen. This may be due to recent changes on the system or some corrupted components. To guide you better in resolving the problem, please answer these questions:

• Did you install any programs or updates before you encountered this problem?
• Are you able to change other Personalization items in
  Settings aside from Lock screen?
• What suggestions have you looked into?

We recommend running the System File Checker tool to find missing or corrupted files on your computer. This tool will scan and fix system issues that may be leading to the difficulty you are facing when customizing your lock screen. Click

You can also use the Photos app to set a different lock screen image. Follow these steps:

• Using File Explorer, locate the image that you want to set as your lock screen.
• Double-click on the image file to open it using the Photos app.
• In case a different app is set to open your images by default, right-click on the image instead, choose
  Open with then select Photos.
• Once you have the image open using the Photos app, click on the See more button (
  
  ).
• Choose Set as.
• Select Set as lock screen.
