Windows 10: How to prevent Windows 10 from disabling touchpad

I like to set up my laptop on my desk with my monitor as main and use the laptop as second screen. However, whenever I do this, the goddamn touchpad gets disabled. Every time. Why is this a thing? How can I stop this from happening? It's kind of annoying when I diconnect and take it with me that the touchpad is disabled. I gotta always remember to re enable it before I take it on the go.

Unable to disable touchpad in Windows 10

Hi,

I would suggest you to try uninstalling the touchpad driver by following the steps below and check if it helps:

1. Press Windows key + R to open the run command.

2. Type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

3. Expand mice and other pointing devices.

4. Right click on the touchpad driver and uninstall
it.

5. Restart the system.

After uninstalling the touchpad driver and restart the computer, it will automatically re-install generic touchpad driver. However, you can disable the touchpad option from device manager.

Precision touchpad is one of the improvements recently brought to Windows 10 to support touch gestures. Is you device running on Windows Creators Update? If yes, follow the steps below to disable touchpad:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Ease of Access.
• Click Touchpad.
• Under Touchpad, toggle the switch on or off.
• You can also uncheck the box beside Leave touchpad on the when a mouse is connectedoption to disable it when you use a traditional mouse.
