Windows 10: How to prevent windows from Cascading on open.

This is a long time problem. Anytime you open a window of the same program, it puts it cascading in front of the previous window.Here is Explorer. I open one window, then another and one more. And it opens each with a cascade.This also happens in edge and any window that is not maximized.Notepad does not and opens every window in the exact same spot exactly over each other.I want the same behavior everywhere. Every window to always open precisely where I put it.I know there is some setting or tweak to force this, but I cannot find it. No this is not the taskbar cascade.

• Right-click on an empty space on the Task Bar.
• Click Cascade Windows.

Cascade Windows Undo/Off

Thank you for writing to Microsoft forums.





Undo Cascade Windows option will be available, only if the Windows are already in cascade mode.



I suggest you to open 2 or 3 Windows on the screen. Now go to taskbar and click on Cascade mode.



All the files will be set in a cascade mode now, if you want to scatter the folders like before. You can open the taskbar again and click on
Undo cascade all Windows.

Lost windows cascade icons and tiles

Hi Joyce,

In Windows 10, Windows Cascade icon is no longer available in the taskbar due to the Task View feature found beside the Search or Cortana icon. As a workaround, here's how you can cascade windows in Windows 10:

• Right-click on the taskbar.
• Select Cascade windows.

To undo the cascade:

• Right-click on the taskbar.
• Select Undo Cascade all windows.
