How to properly format your SSD/HDD's during windows 10 installation ?

I'm currently waiting for my PC parts and kinda scared since I haven't put a PC together in 10-15 years. Hopefully I can not brick it in any way.

My question is more about Windows 10 now though. About half a year ago I wanted to reinstall windows on my current PC and somehow during the installation when I chose the format option and deleted everything the installation refused to install windows 10 ? I'm not sure why or how that happened? I remember vaguely there being just some really small partition uhh... "volume" smthing ? Might remember name wrong but it was about 50-200 mb that I also deleted.

Anyway when I deleted all of that and the installation refused to install windows 10 as it kept giving me some odd error. Then I spent about couple hours googling and trying different command prompt commands until after about 5 hours or so I finally managed to install win 10 through the installation. I can't even remember what I did.

To avoid this issue in the future I'm looking for help to formatting my current SSD's and HDD's that I'll be using in my new build... so I won't go into another panic mode. Thank you very much in advance.

Fresh Windows Install on SSD, while formatting HDD

Okay, so basically I format the HDD in the Installation process without really installing it, then I install the SSD and uninstall the HDD, then Install Windows on the SSD, then shut down the pc again and connect the HDD, finally adding a Simple Volume on
the Unallocated Space of the HDD, right?

To know what cable to remove to disconnect the HDD from the motherboard, I should look at the Laptop's instructions, right?

    Thanks in advance.

Fresh Windows Install on SSD, while formatting HDD

I am going to upgrade my laptop with an SSD, and I would like to make a new-fresh install of Windows in there, while deleting everything from my HDD, which I am going to use to store data. So, I've been reading on the internet, and what I want to do seems
pretty dificult, as most people can't format the HDD after installing Windows on the SSD. What's the best way of making a clean install on the SSD while deleting everything on the HDD?

    Thanks in advance.

PD: I'll do the install in like a month, I made this post so I would have everything clear at the moment of the installation.

SSD for new Windows, keeping files and programs on HDD

Both options you gave concern re-installing applications.

Option I suggest: if the space taken up (used) on your current hard disk drive is LESS than the the space you will have available on your new SSD (formatted size), utilize some third party partitioning tool to shrink the partition to minimal size (under
the size of the SSD) and then use another tool to make an image of that partition or clone that partition onto the SSD and then take out the HDD and see if everything is working properly on your SSD. Once you have determined that, if you want the extra space
the HDD will grant you, put it back in and format it /use it.
