    How to rebuild icon cache in windows 11 tried the instructions for windows 10 did not work


    I have files and a folder that does not show up in File Explorer when I try to add a photo to my lock screen background and also when I try and use File Explorer separately. I have tried all of the following without success. I followed the link in here regarding “How to Rebuild Icon Cache, Clear Thumbnail cache in Windows 10” to the tens forum and that did not work. 1. Updated and ran full scan and a Defender Offline Scan. 2. Use Refresh3. Restart File Explorer4. Clear Icon Cache5. Check if files are hidden.6. Repair system files vis

    Safe way to rebuild icon cache in windows 8.1?

    Hi people, I've noticed the Task Scheduler icon on my desktop is "low quality"

    How to purge and rebuild the icon cache I would have to go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local folder and delete the hidden IconCache.db file.

    Is this safe to do this?
    I don't want to mess up my system.

    Anyone tried this before on windows 8.1?

    Hello, this method does not seem to work for the displayed icons on the Start Menu programs list, I've tried several times and it stills shows old icons, I think these icons are cached in another way, do you perchance know how to refresh them?
