Windows 10: how to reconnect a Disconnected Network Drive

my "mapped" network drive, in a My Files Explorer ,a W.D. MY CLOUD EX2 ULTRA N.A.S. DRIVE, HAS SHOWN ITSELF AS DISCONNECTED.i noticed this when i tried to move [mkv] files within the drives folders and it popped up a box saying"! These files Might be harmful to you computer "Your internet security settings suggest that one or more files maybe harmful.Do you want to use it anyway?iit does offer a link "how do i decide whether to unblock these files"which then goes to https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows which is just a springboard for general all over help; but points me to nothing

Mapped Network Drive Disconnects and Will Not Reconnect

OS:Windows 10 V20H2
PC: Dell XPS8940
Router: Netgear R7000 w/ TomatoUSB

• Nine of ten mapped network drives on my desktop PC behave normally! The tenth is a problem. It is mapped to the USB drive connected to my router.
• Sometimes (days) I cannot connect to this mapped drive and it fails to reconnect. At that point I can still connect to this drive from ALL other devices on my Workgroup LAN. None of those devices have the drive mapped!
• For a short time, using "Net Use" shows the drive trying reconnect. Later it says "Disconnected".
• The only way I have found to reconnect to that drive is to perform:
  1. net use U: /delete
  2. net use U: \\HARENET-HD\data
• This problem has started within the last several months. Maybe it's related to a Windows update??

Help would be appreciated!

Disconnect and reconnect File History drive

To stop file history using a drive, you can try the steps listed below.



Ideally, File History will save copies of your files every hour, so disconnecting and reconnecting the backup drive every hour would be a tedious task. However, if you still would like to go for it, you may try the steps listed
below.

• Open Settings and go to Update & Security > Backup using File History.
  
• Scroll down to Backup to a different drive
  and choose Stop using the drive to disconnect the drive.
  
• Later, when you would like to reconnect, go to
  Settings>
  Update & security>
  Backup>
  Add a drive to reconnect the drive.

This issue might occur if File History drive has been disconnected for too long.



I suggest you to follow the steps below to reconnect the File history drive.

Reconnect your File History drive:

• You’ll see this message if your File History drive has been disconnected for too long. If you’re backing up to an external drive (such as a USB drive), make sure that it’s connected to your PC. If you’re backing up to a network location, go to
  Settings > Update & security > Backup and reselect the network.
• After you’ve reconnected, wait for the next scheduled backup or start a backup manually by selecting
  Settings > Update & security > Backup > More options > Back up now.
