Windows 10: How to record guitar by plugging it directly into a pc?

Im trying to record my guitar audio by using an adapter and plugging my guitar directly into my laptop. There is no microphone specific port, just one with a headset (with a microphone) icon. I cant get any response from my laptop that my guitar is there. Can anyone help me out? Im using a Lenovo Legion Y520 if that makes any difference.

Please follow the steps mentioned below to plug a guitar using a USB Audio Interface.

1. Install the USB audio interface's drivers on the computer. The drivers are included with the device or are available through the manufacturer's website.

2. Connect your guitar to the USB audio interface device's input socket
using a guitar cable. You can route the guitar through an
amplifier to the USB audio interface as well, but it's not necessary as the
USB audio interface's software can replace the amplifier's role.

3. Connect the USB audio interface device to the computer with a
USB cable. The USB audio interface bypasses the need to record through the
sound card.

I had the same problem and I've found an easy solution. Due through windows 10 Adminstructure, some kind of older software wont be recognized properly if the port is directly on the mainboard. You can choose a frontpanel usb port to plug the device and
that's the only way to play the game until MS will fix this issue!
