Windows 10: How to recover from black screen while updating windows?

Hi, my "Dell G3 15" laptop show black screen while updating windows on September 6th, 2023. I think, it is “Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5020435”. On the process updating, when it restarts, it went blank. The laptop turns on but there is no activity in screen, not even company logo shows up. I have tried hard restart by pressing power button for 10 to 15 second for 3 to 4 times to go to “automatic recovery” and henceforth to “troubleshoot” and in “advance option” as suggested in several online sites, youtube etc. It failed. I also tried to enter bios

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
