Windows 10: how to recover from error: 0x80040154 Class not registered in DISM

Trying to install update KB5039212 for Windows 11 23H2, get failures downloading it. At the same time I started having a problem in Excel where alt-F8 was not bringing up a list of available macros could still get at them in a different manner. I first sent the alt-F8 problem to Microsoft Community as an Excel problem. After a couple of interactions I was told to refer the 0x80040154 problem to Windows support. I had problems with a Realtek audio driver so uninstalled and pared back to the Win10 MSoft generic driver. I then installed the latest Realtek driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog (MUC). All working, no problems, sounds good. I then installed the latest Realtek driver from Mokichu ASUS support site (this a later version , 8945, than the MUC). With this driver, which includes additional components from A-Volute/Nahimic, I get no sound from any source and Foobar gives a message... "unrecoverable playback error: Class not registered (0x80040154)". Either this driver pack comes complete with a problem or the uninstall (back to the Win10 MSoft generic driver) has resulted in a Registry problem. Any guidance on how to identify the "class" which is not registered would be greatly appreciated.

Fixed. Removed Realtek driver and went back to downloading the base ASUS Audio Driver package from the ASUS MB support site then applied the latest update from ASUS support.

Hello, I guess I accidentally deleted a system file or directory. Now, when I try to run a program installed on my computer, "EPLAN" displays the following message: Connection to 'EPLAN Client Service' not available. Error [0x80040154]: Class not registered.
