Hello, I lost an important file after a system failure. Word and all Office programs were closed after putting Asus ZenBook to sleep.I had File A the important one; I saved a "recovered File B" with File A´s name.Thank you

How to recover overwritten word document

You can try these options to try to recover the overwritten word document:

1. Recover Overwritten Excel Files/Word Document from Temporary Files

On word, press File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Document.

2. Recover from Auto Recover.

After reopening Word, press File > Options > Save, and then copy the address of AutoRecover file location. Paste the address to the search bar of Windows File Explorer.

3. Restore Previous Version

This requires activation of the backup option.

4. Also If the document is saved to OneDrive, the versions feature can recover for a period of time.

5. Go to the Recycle Bin, enter .asd on the search bar, sort the result by Date Deleted.

This ASD format is a temporary backup made by MS Word. If you found it try to recover the file to the computer, and then change its file extension to .doc.
