    My windows 11 harddisk size is 471gb hard disk of which 91gb is being used by $MFTIs it possible to reduce $MFT allocation

    Location of MFT and MFT Zone

    Hi,

    when system starts, ntfs.sys driver tries to allocate MFT zone just after last MFT fragment. If this is impossible MFT zone is located in any suitable place on disk.

    Please note, MFT zone have no physical representation in file system terms, it exists only due ntfs.sys attempts to optimize possible MFT increasing.
