How to reinstall windows 11 enterprise after hardware change

Hello, could you please help me with my issue.I have on my computer windows 11 enterprise edition. In activation settings I have a note: Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account. Now I want to add a new bigger SSD disk and do a clean install of windows to that one.I have done that and installed windows 11 home to the new disk, because there was no option for installation of enterprise edition. When I boot now to the new disk and windows, I get a message that windows are not activated and I cannot activate it even via troubleshooter.I assume it could be because

  2. Windows 11 not activating after reinstalling after changing hardware

    Hi Alex,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble activating Windows 11 on your new PC.

According to the Microsoft Support website, Windows 11 activation helps verify that your copy of Windows is genuine and hasn’t been used on more devices than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. If you recently made a significant hardware change (such as replacing the motherboard or the drive) or reinstalled Windows, you may need to reactivate Windows 11 on your device.

Here are some steps you can try to fix the activation errors:

If Windows 11 wasn't pre-installed on your device when purchased and you used a product key to upgrade to Windows 11, then you'll need that same product key after the hardware change.

Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Key, then enter the product key. Enter your product key in Settings

If you installed a retail copy of Windows 11 on your device using a Windows 11 product key and then made hardware changes, follow this same process using your Windows 11 product key.

I hope this helps you activate Windows 11 on your new PC. If you still have any questions or issues, you can get in touch with a human customer support person by following these steps: Contact - Microsoft Support

  3. How to change the MB without having to reinstall windows ???

    Suggestion

Before you turn off Windows for the last time prior to changing MBs, go to Device Manager and delete everything you can, with no mercy, especially the items under "System devices".
Then next time you boot (after changing MBs hopefully), Windows will re-install everything again, but this time according to the new hardware.
    Works quite well... Good luck!
