Windows 10: How to reinstall Windows in a Surface without logging in?

Hi all, I have a surface for my son where I put screen time. Now I can't log in because it says that I don't have more time, when it actually has time I set from my phone. If I click on ask for more time, I get an error message that there was a problem and that they could not send the request. So I get in this endless loop and can't access the PC. Unfortunately it is the only account I had set up when I installed Windows, so I am locked. I will need to re-install and add my account first (adult) so I can log on in the future (my mistake for not doing that before)

Btw: I am connected to the Wifi, so that is not the problem....


Any idea/suggestion is welcome!

• Have you made any significant changes prior to this issue?
• Have you tried to login using a different Microsoft account or local account on the computer?

Boot Surface Laptop to USB - no Volume button

This doesn't list the "Surface Laptop", but you might give it a try to see.

Otherwise, you should be able to use OPTION ONE below to boot from the USB from advanced startup.

Fingerprint reader missing from log-in screen on Surface Pro 4

I understand your concern about fingerprint reader on the your device, do le us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• Have you made any changes to the device(Hardware/ Software) prior to this issue?
• Have you connected any other external devices to your Surface Pro 4?
• Are you using PIN on the logon screen to log-in to your device?

I suggest you to refer to the below post and check if your issue matches with the same. If so, try the troubleshooting steps mentioned by
RobertBrindle on November 10, 2015 and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
