Windows 10: How to remove a file extension.

Hi. I have temporarily installed one program, and I uninstalled it after it wasn't needed, but it said it could not remove a file extension association, which is an .anydesk file. When I create one myself, the icon becomes a default executable icon, and it says it opens with unknown program.Essentially what I would like to know, is how to convert this file extension so that it opens with nothing, like it's an unknown file extension association?

Remove (not change) file extension association

I mistakenly associated a file extension with .pdf. I've found many instructions on how to change (swap) the file associate from one extension to the other, but how do you remove the association completely and return it to "Choose a default" ??

I took the suggested steps above and it removed the association but didn't return it to "Choose a default" ... this has caused a thumbnail app to work for every file EXCEPT the ones i mistakenly associated, then did the work around on. This is affecting
productivity as I'm working with over 1,000 files (and growing). Since 145 people said they had the same question, please Microsoft, can you answer or solve this problem? Please help. Thanks.

To change the file extension when saving a document in Word 2013, you may follow the steps below:

• Click on File; then, select Options from the list.
• In the Word Options window, choose Save.
• Under Save files in this format, select *.doc from the list.
• Hit OK button to confirm and save the changes.
