Windows 10: How to remove a printer with "Driver is unavailable" status from list of Printers and scanners

When I went to connect my printers to Windows 11 on my new laptop, I received the message "Driver was unavailable". I downloaded and installed the driver for my Canon iP8720 and was successful in connected my laptop to the printer. However, I still see the printer with the unavailable driver still listed under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners see below.How do I remove iP8700 series _D10F81000000 from the list of printers & scanners? I can not select this printer in the settings to remove. I've tried to use the Registry Editor to manually remove the print

Another method you may try is to uninstall and reinstall the printer. The following are the steps:



Remove your printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.

Install or add a local printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & Scanners, see if your printer is installed.
• If you don’t see your device, select Add a printer or scanner. Wait for it to find available printers, choose the one you want, and then select Add device.

On the other hand, we suggest also that you reach out the manufacturer of your printer/scanner for the driver availability or work around.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove unwanted Printers and check if it resolves the issue. Here's how:

1. Right click on Start and select Control Panel
> Devices and Printers.

2. Under Printers, select the unwanted Printer and click on
Remove device.

3. Now go to Start menu and navigate to Settings >
Devices > Printers & scanners and check whether the printers

are listed under Add printers & scanners.

I understand you concern in this regard.

What option you can see when you click on the device?

Will they all gives option to Add the device?

What happens when you click Refresh?

Usually when you click Add a printer or scanner, then it will brings up all the available list of Printer and scanners that you can add. Not sure how the unavailable printer and scanners are listed out there. Just try to
select the printer or scanner which actually unavailable to see what exactly happens. Let us know if it gives any error code.

Once you add them try to remove them, refresh and see if they still shows up again.
