    How to remove access to the C:\ProgramData folder?


    I was trying to bind my medial play/pause button to spotify by changing .mp3 and .cda files to open with Spotify by default. But since Spotify came with the laptop, I had to find spotify by unlocking access to the 'ProgramData' file. I was unsuccessful, but now I can't open some old files up. I think the directory was messed up and I really want to undo the permission I gave myself but not sure how to. Not sure wat the original setting is supposed to look like.     Control Panel Uninstall will not show folders in C:\ProgramData

    Hi,

    I was trying to use Program Uninstall in Control Panel to get rid of PC Cleaner Pro that is in C:\ProgramData . It wasn't in the list of Programs. It appears that the only programs in the list are in C:\Program Files. Is there any safe way to get Control
    Panel to access and remove programs in C:\ProgramData? I have Windows 10 Home Version 1607.

    c:\ProgramData is not accessible

    each time I try or any program tries to access the C:\ProgramData folder an error message popup saying that the folder is not accessible , I tried every possible security option but still access denied , and I am logged in as administrator though I can't
    access this folder , also I tried the takeownership registry thing and I tried changing the owner of the folder in security settings but changing the owner is denied also . i can not do a system restore since it detects a local disk C error and it wont restore
    unless the error is fixed after a restart , so i tried to repair the error many times but each time I run system restore the disk error still occurs ( this is still happening even after I formatted my disk and reinstalling windows 10) , so please can anyone
    help me accessing the ProgramData folder ..

    How to remove access to the C:\ProgramData folder?

    Can't delete folder in c:\ProgramData\

    While working in the elevated Console Environment, try these commands:

    md C:\Junk

    move C:\ProgramData\Battle.net C:\Junk

    Now reboot, then delete the junk folder.
