How to remove homegroup from computer upgraded to Windows 10

I've been going rounds with this and have had no luck with my windows searches.

    Situation:

I have an older HP 100B all in one computer that had originally hosted a home group on it. There were 4 other computers in the house that had been members of the group. I had upgraded the system from Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 through the free upgrade path soon after the upgrade was available, but at the time I did NOT disable the homegroup prior to upgrading to win 10.

I have since been unable to remove the homegroup from the original computer and have not been able to add anything to the existing homegroup since I have lost the password for it.

I would like to find a way to remove any reference to the old homegroup so that I can create a new one on the now Windows 10 based group of computers.

What I have done so far on the original computer:
Deleted all files in the C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking folder
verified that all homegroup services are set to automatic and that they are running
Deleted all homegroup credentials stored on the machine

    :)

    Home group broke during update.

My HTPC was hosting a home group to share content with the other computers on the network. It was upgraded from 7 to 10. Now when i look into the home group settings i am given the option to join the homegroup, on the computer is supposed to be creating.
I can't create another one because i can't remove this one. How do i remove the homegroup?
