Windows 10: How to rename audio devices (Like 2- Realtek Series...)

Sometimes when I change my USB port or Windows installs a update or driver update, my Audio device names change from Realtek to 2- Realtek. It is really annoying and I dont even see the sense in it. Is there a way to rename the audio device? Btw, I dont talk about the first name in the audio panel, I talk about the second. I think its a driver name no? All I want is to get rid of the 2- in front of my driver or hardware name. Like from Headphones (2- Realtek Series) to Headphones (Realtek Series).

Rename Sound Devices

I've figured out how to rename Bluetooth devices, but I can't figure out how to rename speakers.

My speaker list shows up as follows in the sound icon:

• Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (2 - DELL PROFESSIONAL SOUND BAR AE515) - twice
• Microphone (4 - SpeechMike III)
• Microphone (Logitech BRIO)
• Microphone Array (Realtek Audio)
• Speakers (4 - SpeechMike III)
• Speakers / Headphones (Realtek Audio)

Depending on which SpeechMike I'm using (wireless vs wired), it will show up as 3 (wired) or 5 (wireless with second base).

Is there a way to rename any of these devices? I've yet to find a way.

I had the realtek error when using the installer, so I did these step and It Worked

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.

Everyone that post ids, need just do these steps and you will be good. I kinda tired of keep on uploading the inf. file

additional if you want dts audio and others, install it now before next step.
