Windows 10: How to repair corrupted NET Framework 4.8.1

On November 16, 2024-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 KB5045935 was corrupted. Prevents me from running my Intuit ProSeries Network tax software foe 2021-2024, Tax years 2010-2020 are running fine.I updated 6 devices the same day 4 windows 10 and 1 additional Windows 11 and they are running fine. All the devices are networked in a Peer-to-peer network as Local accounts.Ran the 1st steps to troubleshoot.NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 by Turning Windows features on and off by unchecking the NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 to remove the p

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to un-check and recheck .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series from Windows features.

Try the following steps:

• Press Windows + R keys to open Run command.
• Type Appwiz.cpl and select "turn Windows feature on or off" from the left
• Uncheck .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series.
• Restart the computer
• Repeat step 1 and 2 and check .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series.
• Restart the computer.

Do let us know how exactly you have tried to perform repair of .Net Frame work on your computer.

Let us try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to turn off, turn on the .Net framework and check if it helps.

• PressWindows + X keys from the keyboard, click on
  Programs and Features.
• Click on Turn Windows features on or off from the left pane.
• Uncheck the .Net framework feature, restart the computer.
• Follow the same as I & 2 check mark the feature, restart the computer and check with the status.

If the issue still persists,

Step 2: I suggest you to repair the framework using repair tool and check.

Method: 1

I would suggest you to check if there are any pending Windows updates available, if found any install them.

Method: 2

Disable .Net framework

I request you to Enable & Disable the .Net Framework.

• To disable this press Windows key +X.
• Click on 'Programs and features'.
• Then click on "Turn Windows features on or OFF" in the left pane.
  
• Now uncheck if the .NET framework 4.6 option is checked.
• Click on Okay.

Enable .net framework

• To enable this press Windows key +X.
• Click on 'Programs and features'.
• Then click on "Turn Windows features on or OFF" in the left pane.
  
• Now check if the .NET framework 4.6 option is unchecked.
• Click on Okay

Method: 3

.Net Framework get install along with Window installation. This issue may arise if there is some corruption in .Net Framework file while installation. I suggest you to try downloading and installing .Net Framework 3.5 manually and check if it works,
