Windows 10: how to reset windows 11 when it is stuck in bitlocker recovery?

I have a Gateway laptop windows 11 Intel i5 core and i turned it on and its stuck on the bitlocker recovery key screen with error message that secure boot policy changed unexpectedly. i have tried finding my recovery key and it is not saved to my microsoft account and im willing to reset at this point but when i try to reset with or without keeping files it says there is a problem resetting your PC. i also tried uninstalling latest windows updates and it will not work either. Can anyone please give me a solution?

@rinconmike For future reference, instead of using the TASK MANAGER to restart, you can simply hold CTRL + SHIFT and right click on blank space on the Task bar, to bring up 'Exit Explorer'. Another option is to use software.

If you don't have access to the BitLocker recovery key or if it doesn't work, you can try using the Windows installation media to reset your password. Here are the steps:

1. Create a Windows installation media (such as a bootable USB drive or DVD) on another working PC using the Media Creation Tool provided by Microsoft.
   
2. Insert the installation media into your locked PC and restart it.
   
3. Press the necessary key to access the boot menu or BIOS setup, and select the installation media as the boot device.
   
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows.
   
5. When you reach the screen where you're prompted to select the partition to install Windows, click on "Repair your computer" instead.
   
6. Select "Troubleshoot" and then "Reset this PC" or "Advanced options" and then "Command Prompt."
   
7. In the Command Prompt, type the following command to reset the password for the local user account: net user [username] [newpassword], where [username] is the name of the locked account and [newpassword] is the new password you want to use.
   
8. Restart your PC and sign in with the new password.

Are you referring to the Recovery key for BitLocker or the key that needed for resetting Windows Phone?



If you are referring to the Reset Key that is needed for Windows Recovery, then I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps:

• Go to account.microsoft.com/devices.
• Next to the phone you no longer own, click I don't own this phone anymore.
• Select “I’m ready to remove my phone “check box, note the
  recovery key, and then click Remove. The recovery key will display on the page and will also be emailed to you.
• When you're certain that you have your recovery key saved, select “I’ve kept a copy of the recovery key “ check box, and then click Okay.
• Forward the recovery key email to your phone recipient.

Your phone is no longer listed on account.microsoft.com/devices, and you can remove Reset Protection during phone setup using recovery key option.
