Windows 10: How to resolve this? Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\" issue

I've been using Ubuntu for several months without any problems. The month of March rolled in and I think something happened with one of the automated Windows updates to cause the following issue. I am no longer able to open Ubuntu by clicking on the icon and I'm wary of uninstalling/reinstalling and losing files.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Issue with Windows 7 Gadgets

For some strange reason, my Windows 7 gadgets (Weather, GMail, etc) can no longer connect to the internet and update themselves. I have added both sidebar exe files (C : \Program Files and C : \Program Files x86) to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list. It is the same issue even when UAC is enabled. What could be causing this? Thanks for any help.

I also just realized that my Windows Update is not working as well, so that may be a related issue.

 

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

Deleting the shortcut for the removed printer program may resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

• Press and hold Windows key + E to open File Explorer.
  
• Go to the path location:
  • C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    
• Locate Monitor Ink Alerts - HP Deskjet 1010 series.lnk.
  
• Delete the shortcut and reboot your computer.
