Windows 10: How to restart Chrome after PC is idle for several minutes

I am trying to create a kiosk like experience with a win 10 touchscreen PC, where after X# of minutes, it will close and restart Chrome, so that any open tabs will close, and Chrome will open to the default home page. So the effect would be a screensaver starts after X minutes, and in the background Chrome restarts and opens the default page which is a menu screen. When someone touches the screen, the default home screen in Chrome would be revealed.

I looked into Task Scheduler, which is new to me, but I did not see anyway to close or restart an application. Plus under events I am not seeing the idle event as an action that can trigger new actions.

I am open to using 3rd programs, or other work-arounds. Any ideas on how to do this?

Windows 10 issue: laptop -- after a few hours idle, have to restart

I just downloaded windows 10. I changed the settings so that the computer does
not shut down/hibernate after x amount of minutes. However, after being idle for several hours, my laptop is still on, but is frozen -- nothing on the screen and will not respond. I must restart it. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
I never had this problem with windows 8!

yes but apparently it tries to run after the pc is idle for 4 minutes while plugged in. How can I disable it?

Second, why are you trying to do this? Is this a single purpose machine that will do nothing but display a screensaver, and when nudged go straight to a Chrome home page?

 

This is a single purpose PC, that will show a menu landing page, with links to other pages. The goal is for the PC to reset itself if idle, restarting Chrome, closing extra open tabs, so that the main menu will be shown to the next user. This does not need to be a secured or locked in experience. It is ok for the user to quit chrome, do whatever, but if they leave then we would like to go back into Chrome showing the menu.

This is not a personal PC, so not adding it to my profile. The device is a Lenovo A540 all-in-one touchscreen PC.

I don't know if this is a question that's appropriate for this forum. The reason is I view this as a programming/coding question and this is more of a Windows issue only forum.
I would look for a programming forum where you might get a better response to this.
