Windows 10: How to restore a backup from iTunes not working

I recently got a new Iphone 11, before going to the apple store I backed up my Iphone 7plus to iTunes it's important to note that this version of iTunes was downloaded from the Microsoft store, not apple. I made sure that my computer, iTunes, and my 7plus were all up to date with their software before going. I traded in my Iphone 7plus and was assured that since I had the local backup at home it wouldn't be an issue. This was an incorrect statement by the apple personnel. iTunes can see the new phone and it stays connected to charge, however as soon as I try to restore from the backup iTunes gives me an error saying that "iTunes could not restore the iphone because the iphone disconnected." I called apple tech support and we spent a few hours trying everything from new cords to reinstalling iTunes both from the microsoft store and from apple but nothing worked. The iphone is able to be set up without the restore so it's nothing on the hardware or software end of the phone. The problem is that the information on that backup is essential and the old phone is completely gone. The apple tech told me that the only other thing that it could be was on the software side of iTunes from the microsoft store. Please help.

Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.

Obviously you're looking for something besides your Xp Pro utility that does this?

 

iTunes won't connect to my iTunes Media directory

1. Uninstall iTunes completely. (I suggest using Geek Uninstaller. In my experience this does a good job of clearing remnants.)
2. Download and install latest iTunes from Apple, not Windows Store (Never use the Windows Store for iTunes.)
3. Check whether the Apple version allows you to point to your old media store.
