Unable to set default keyboard after updates (gpedit.msc not working as intended)

1. What is the edition and version of Windows installed on your PC?
   
2. Which updates were installed recently?
   

I would suggest you to follow below mentioned steps.

Method 1: Making changes to set Keyboard language as default.

1. Click on the Start button, go to Settings > Time & Language > Region &
   Language.
   
2. Click on Japanese Language and then click on Remove.
   
3. Click on the Start button, go to Settings>Time & Language>Region & language.
   
4. Click on Add a Language >Select the Language (Japanese).
   
5. Once added, click on Options button, and select
   Add Keyboards to select Japanese keyboard.
   
6. After the download is complete, go to the
   Region & language window, select the recently downloaded language and click on
   Set as Default.
   

Method 2: Follow the Microsoft article to do
system restore under the section ‘Restore from a system restore point’.

In Windows 10 how do I return the font on my desktop icons to the default setting?

  Type fonts in the search and press enter

  Click on Font settings
  
• 
  Click on Restore default font settings.

Language/Keyboard default

Hi Sandra,

You can try these steps to set up your preferred defaults:

• Go to Settings and click Time & Language.
• Click Region & Language.
• Click on your default system language then, click Options.
• Click Add a keyboard then choose your preferred keyboard language.
• Remove the other keyboard language by choosing it then click Remove.
